As a specialized ministry organization, we can only do so much to facilitate and direct the healing of those broken in the Body. Our efforts and priorities must be upheld and displayed by the church in which we are working. This church-wide dedication to the truth must be solidly in place before any work of ours can be efficacious.

As sinners saved by grace, we are each and all dead in sin. God’s good news and His gift of life, however, mean that we can be dead to sin. The latter should not mean we forget the former. We are all stuck in patterns of disobedience and need the healing grace of our Saviour and His people. The communion of saints is vital in this process.

God never meant for us to be healed in isolation. He never called us to a private, personal faith. Our faith and our healing must be corporate, and therefore so must our sin. Each church, and the Church catholic, must actively seek to be made a place where sins are confessed and sinners enfolded. The confession of sins and the bodily assurance of pardon from fellow Christians are important and overlooked pieces in the portrait of grace.

Sexual sin -- and especially homosexual sin -- must not in any case be treated as a special disease. All sinners must be exhorted and held to a high level of confession and repentance that does not elevate any one sin above the level of others. Only in this kind of atmosphere can truly willing and supported strugglers rise up for the deeper healing in store.

This is God’s vision for the church, and we are the ones who must make it happen! Together with those who desire our services, we will outline the hallmarks of such a community and strategies for putting it to work. This is the first step of an Underground Rainbow ministry.
